The Rogue Prince of Persia – Part 3-3

We have a rough idea of what needs to be done to find our Father, and if luck is on our side we should be able to rescue him in this run!

When I started playing this game, it was finished up until Act 2. For that reason, I had already unlocked Altan as a boss when Act 3 was added to the game. Further, I had already fought and defeated him several times while looking for The Prince’s mother.

Which is why I never linked the tentacles in the port region to him. They were so distantly connected that they seemed like separate, unrelated entities in my head. Going through this game in the “intended” way, outside of Early Access, does a better job creating that connection because both Altan and the port are unlocked in such close proximity to each other. I must have at least figured out the link between him and the boat to finish my run initially, but it’s not now that the tentacles fall into place for me.

I also think it’s cool that we don’t get to save the Prince’s father the way we do our mother and brother. There’s something poetic about having the power to rewind time again and again, but still the ideal outcome is out of our reach.

It might not be the greatest story ever told, but it suits the game we’re playing and perfectly brings the fundamental identity of the Prince of Persia to this new genre/adaptation.
