Ape Escape – Part 2-2
As the quote from the beginning of Mighty No. 9 goes, “It is the current year”. And though we’ve caught many of the apes through time, there are still more who have escaped.
It’s our job to catch them even here, in modern times (circa 1999).

Not that we finally have all the gadgets*, the sky is the limit. No more obstacles should be able to get in our way.**
Having said that, no gadget can solve the problem with the camera that’s starting to get more and more noticeable as we get further into the game. Though most stages are smartly designed around it, we do occasionally have moments where we’re fighting with the camera more than anything else. When I think of the small audience of Ape Escape fans clamoring for a new one after Astro Bot, I wonder how much these little issues get smoothed over in the nostalgia lens they look at these games with.
It’s the kind of thing I’m willing to forgive for a PS1 game, but I’d be less willing to overlook into something more modern.
