As I mentioned in the stream, a fascinating phenomenon observed by David Maurer in his book, The Big Con: The Story of the Confidence Man, is that those who obtain their fortunes through illicit means, including con jobs and organized crime, and typically unskilled at saving or investing their money for the long term. They will obtain vast fortunes through their illegal activities, and then spend those fortunes almost immediately after obtaining them, returning to a base level of poverty, and necessitating the need for further crime. Though we didn’t choose to frivolously spend too much money in our playthrough, Vito nonetheless demonstrates this principal by storing his excess cash in his home, rather than storing it in a savings account or investing it elsewhere. It burns to ash with the home it resides in.

But enough about that, as interesting as it is. I don’t know what it is with this game, but the number of strange happenings in my playthrough is too great to ignore. Luckily for me, each and every one of them is hilarious as hell.

This is absolutely the Definitive way to play Mafia 2. I have no doubts on that front.
