The reason why Andre and I are cackling at all of these glitches happening to us is largely because we don’t see things like this anymore. On most levels, this is a good thing. Games are far more stable now than they’ve ever been before, now that devs have the capacity to patch issues they find with Day 1 or future updates.
And yet, with the good comes the bad. The roughness of these old games has a certain charm to it that is lacking from the output of modern AAA studios. Especially now, as games from that sector have to sell extremely well or the studio that made them gets shut down.
No one wants an executive shouting “You’re fucking dead!” to the studios that they own.
