Zero Parades For Dead Spies – Part 2-4

Alright. We have everything we need to break into the Secret Jail. Hopefully, whoever they have locked up in there will give us the lead we need to figure out what our assignment is.

Streamed on my Twitch.

I have to give the team at ZA/UM credit. While the soundtrack here may not be as memorable as Disco Elysium’s was, it serves the narrative far better. In the earlier scene where we dodge the man with the tacky trenchcoat in the Bootleg Bazaar, and in this interrogation scene, the soundtrack helps to sell the mood and tone that Zero Parades is aiming for in those moments.

The smooth, almost jazzy music from the escape scene helps sell the spy fantasy, as we defy avoid Ignatz by blending in to the crowd. As a player, I feel cool in that moment, almost untouchable. By contrast, the frantic chords the play in this interrogation scene evoke the sense of terror and distress that CASCADE would be feeling as she is hit again and again by painful electric shocks.

Having such high physical and mental stress going in also heightened the scene. There is no more appropriate time for our Fatigue and Anxiety to spike to dangerous high levels than one where we are being tortured in order to extract information. We were quite literally pushed to the point where we nearly broke, narrowly saved by the timely intervention of the heartless man.

And hopefully, with his lead in our pocket, we might finally understand what our objective is.
