All of a sudden, Black Flag has remembered it is an Assassin’s Creed game. That means we now have targets to assassinate.

I don’t have much desire to retread my problem with the open world busywork and why I wish it wasn’t almost mandatory to advancing the main plot. It feeds into almost every design trend that I despise from the last decade, including the rise of superfluous RPG mechanics and tiered loot in games that need neither for the sake of having a Skinner Box-inspired progression system.
It’s why I was hopeful after Mirage came out that AC would want to try to go back to simpler times and simpler design, but I was proven wrong when Shadows dropped.
Oh well. We’re nearly done with Assassin’s Creed anyway.
