One of the things that I enjoy most about both playing and watching people play Disco Elysium is seeing the game tackle the complexities of being on the political left. There is no such thing as this perfect individual who perfectly embodies all of the best aspects of left-leaning thought. We are all human beings, and we all carry our own flaws.
And rather than try to gloss over those flaws and paint and saccharine picture of what it would be like to organize, Disco Elysium tackles the difficulties of such an undertaking head-on. While the union is doing good for the people of Martinaise, it’s leadership is obviously corrupt and they are uncritically willing to work with people who espouse overtly racist worldviews.
