Mafia: Definitive Edition – Part 2-1

With yet another race done and dusted, we can get back to the life of crime.

I like Sarah as a character and as a romantic love interest for Tommy. She’s believably resilient given her background, carrying a good balance of charm, grit, and compassion. And as Andre noted, the team at Hangar 13, for this remake, does an excellent job supplement her voice actress’s performance with subtle, non-verbal acting to characterize her.

When I compare her to Isabella from The Old Country, the one issue here is screen time. Isabella is a constant presence in the plot of The Old Country, always reminding the player of one of Enzo’s primary motivations.

Then again, Tommy himself doesn’t seem to have a strong motivation beyond just being a part of the team. Unlike Enzo, who came from absolute poverty, Tommy was doing well enough for himself, and openly admitted that he wasn’t in it for the money.

But perhaps I’m grading unfairly. This story was originally penned in 2002, and we aren’t just over halfway through the game, and both of those factors should be taken into account when I have this discussion.
