We have a house, a lot of cool stuff, a stable “source of income”. This is the life. How much better can it be?

To finish my though on the section with Vito’s sister, I can understand why she would react the way that she did. If I am going to a family member for help, there’s an implied level of trust that they’ll act reasonably, either to solve my problem or guide me to people that can. If I find that they took actions I deem extreme, resorting to a level of violence that I’m not comfortable with, I am never going to them for help ever again.
Now, having said that, I actually it’s both bold and compelling that Mafia 2 takes away all of the money, outfits, and weapons we’ve picked up over the course of the game, so that we as a player feel the loss that Vito is going through as he is forced to build himself back up from nothing. While it truthfully doesn’t inconvenience us that much, it is a moment of ludonarrative harmony between the story and the mechanics that isn’t often explored in the context of a video game.
In this context, it serves as a powerful tool, similar to how Vito quits the job at the beginning of the game, to reinforce the link between player and protagonist.
