Ignore the fact that Joe lost his goddamn mind for a second time, this is the part where we start rapidly barrelling towards the endgame, complete with reveals regarding how Vito’s father drowned his family into the very debt that drove him to a life of crime in the first place.
It’s a little strange that doesn’t really go anywhere or inform anything about what happens next, but it is a resolution all the same. Considering how the rest of the game shakes out, I wonder if the budget was starting to run out and they had to ship something.
(Post-script: I confirmed later on that Mafia 2 famously ran out of money towards the end of its development.)
