Mafia 3: Definitive Edition – Part 6-7

We sit at the crossroads, with one last choice to make before our time in New Bordeaux comes to an end.

I find it interesting that when we leave things in perfect balance and escape, Cassandra is the one that takes it all in the end. Really, it only makes sense. Vito and Burke, while more public facing, are far less intelligent than she is. She has a cunning and wit that surpasses the two of them combined, and without Lincoln to keep the scales in balance, she would naturally find a weak point with the other two leaders and exploit it.

Having seen the other endings I had access to, this is probably the best Lincoln Clay could hope for, after all he did to destabilize the city. Better to fade into obscurity than allow oneself to turn into a monster. It wouldn’t be a Mafia game if the protagonist was able to walk away without suffering the consequences of their own actions.

Overall, I think this is the second best game in the series out of all the ones I’ve played, with The Old Country still firmly at the top. Normally, I would go for the more directed experiences of Mafia 1 and 2 over another open-world game, but this one feels the most complete out of the three numbered entries. The devs were given the time and resources to tell the story they wanted to, which cannot be said for Mafia 2, and Mafia 1 barely had much story to tell in the first place.

I understand why Andre wanted me to play it so badly, and I’m glad I was able to.
