The Dark Duo – Directive 8020 – Part 2-4

This is the episode where my frustrations give rise to anger.

There are two reasons why I was upset that the stealth section was defeated by just running past it without a care in the world.

• I was already having a miserable time with the bland stealth sections we’d been getting up until now. None of them have been fun, or even challenging. In learning that I could’ve just waltzed right past every one of them without fear, I have also realized that I had been putting in far more energy and effort than I needed to, for gameplay I was getting bored of.
  
• As a fan of stealth gameplay, I consider it a failure of game design if the optimal solution for a puzzle build around sneaking and threat avoidance is to just run through it without a care in the world.

While I can’t say I was having fun before, this is the moment where I began to truly sour of Directive 8020. You can hear it in my voice. I was, at this point, defeated. The only thing that kept me going was the knowledge that there wasn’t much left to do.
