Ultimate Spider-Man – Part 1-1
With 007 finished, and nothing else of immediate interest on my calendar for the channel, I thought to trawl through my list of games I’ve wanted to revisit. That’s where I get most of my inspiration for the games I do Let’s Plays on.
Among that list, one name stood out to me. I’ve been meaning to fire up Ultimate Spider-man on an emulator for a while. And there’s no better time than right now.

I remember putting Ultimate Spider-man on my list shortly after I wrapped up playing Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2. Because Venom is such a focus in that game, it made me think back on both this and Web of Shadows. Between the two, my memories of Ultimate Spider-man are far fonder.
Of course, those that know me also know I’m a huge Venom fan. My first exposure to Spider-man was the PS1 Spider-man video game (specifically the demo, which led me to ask my parents to get me the full version). Venom was a major character there as well, so my memories of the web head are intricately linked to my memories of his symbiotic rival. A lot of what I would get into later in life was certainly colored by early exposure to the colossal, muscle-bound alien symbiote. Seeing that he was playable in Ultimate Spider-man was practically a guarantee I would play it.
While I’m certainly looking forward to that, I also just want to know how well the game holds up over all, over 20 years later.
