I wonder if Andre’s reaction to Ultra Violeta was the “intended” reaction. I confess, when I first played through this conversation with her in my original run, I did not pay much attention to her beyond the fact that she was the artist who wrote and performed the song on the red disc. I went through the dialog options for world-building, but I can’t say any of it truly mattered to me.
And that might very well be the point. As a person, Ultra Violetta is vacuous. Her skill at her craft is just about the only thing she has going for her, treated similarly to the way pop idols are in Japan and Korea.
It ties in well with the overall themes regarding soft power as a political tool, but I don’t know if there’s much more of interest I can say beyond that. At least, not now. Perhaps as things unfold, I’ll find my voice.
